Sean Kingston, the popular rapper known for hits like 'Beautiful Girls' and 'Fire Burning,' has found himself in legal trouble after his mother, Janice Turner, was arrested on fraud and theft charges following a raid at his Florida mansion. The incident occurred on May 23, 2023, with investigations beginning in Dania Beach.
Kingston gained fame in 2007 with his debut single 'Beautiful Girls,' and has since collaborated with artists such as Justin Bieber, Kanye West, and Nicki Minaj. He was the opening act for Gwen Stefani's The Sweet Escape Tour and select dates for Beyoncé's The Beyoncé Experience tour in 2007.
However, Kingston's success has been overshadowed by recent events. In February 2023, Ver Ver Entertainment accused him of not fully paying for a huge TV and sound system. Despite this allegation, it is unclear if the raid and arrest are related to the breach of contract or fraud claims.
Kingston was not present during the raid but responded on his Instagram account: 'I am good and so is my mother... My lawyers are handling everything as we speak.' Janice Turner, 61, was taken into custody during the raid. The Broward Sheriff's Office confirmed that an adult female named Janice Turner was arrested on numerous fraud and theft charges.
The investigation is ongoing, and it remains to be seen if Kingston himself will face any charges. His representatives did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
