A security guard was shot outside of rapper Drake's mansion in Toronto on May 7, 2024. The shooting occurred at around 2 a.m. ET and left the guard with serious injuries, including one gunshot wound to the chest.
The incident took place at Drake's residence in the Bridle Path neighborhood of Toronto.
According to reports, the security guard was standing outside of the gates in front of the property when he was shot by an unknown assailant. One suspect fled the scene in a vehicle, and investigators are currently reviewing video footage from security cameras to identify them.
The victim was transported to Sunnybrook Hospital with serious injuries. The motive behind the shooting remains under investigation, but it is believed that Drake's ongoing feud with rapper Kendrick Lamar may be a factor.
In recent weeks, Drake and Lamar have been engaged in a rap feud, with each artist releasing diss tracks attacking the other. The latest track from Lamar, titled 'Not Like Us,' includes unsubstantiated allegations and personal insults against Drake.
Toronto police are asking anyone with information to contact them. They are also urging witnesses to upload any photos or videos of the suspect(s) or suspect vehicle to an evidence portal for the investigation.
