Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's daughter, Shiloh Jolie-Pitt, is taking steps to legally change her last name. According to multiple sources, Shiloh filed the necessary paperwork on her eighteenth birthday in May and has been publishing a legal notice in the Los Angeles Times weekly since June 17.
Shiloh's decision to change her name comes after her siblings Zahara and Vivienne have also dropped 'Pitt' from their last names. Zahara introduced herself as 'Zahara Marley Jolie' during an introduction ceremony event at Spelman College, while Vivienne co-produced the Broadway production of The Outsiders under the name 'Vivienne Jolie'.
The reasons behind Shiloh's decision to change her name remain undisclosed. However, it is known that California law requires those petitioning for a name change to publish the order to show cause form in a newspaper for one month before the court date.
Brad Pitt is reportedly aware and upset about Shiloh's attempt to drop his last name from her new name. A source close to Pitt told ET that he recognizes things have been difficult for him and his family, but he still loves being a father and misses his children deeply.
Shiloh shares three biological children with Brad and Angelina - Shiloh, 18, Vivienne, 16, and Knox, 20 - as well as three adopted children: Maddox, 22; Pax, 20; and Zahara Jolie Marley Pitt, 19.
Despite the ongoing legal battles between Brad and Angelina over their shared business interests and properties, including a French vineyard Château Miraval, Shiloh's name change hearing is scheduled for July 29.
