Six-Year-Old Boy Fatally Attacked by Dogs in Northeast Portland

    A six-year-old boy was fatally attacked by two Great Dane-Mastiff mixes in Northeast Portland.
    The caretaker of the boy, who owned the dogs, was also injured in the attack.
    The dogs are now in the custody of Multnomah County Animal Services.

    A tragic incident unfolded in Northeast Portland when a six-year-old boy was fatally attacked by two dogs. The dogs, identified as Great Dane-Mastiff mixes, belonged to the woman who was taking care of the boy. The incident occurred when the boy opened the garage door where the dogs were kept.

    The caretaker, who was also injured in the attack, made desperate attempts to save the boy, including grabbing a gun. Despite her efforts, the boy succumbed to his injuries. The woman was subsequently taken to the hospital for treatment.

    The boy's grandmother would drop him off at the caretaker's house each morning. On the day of the incident, the dogs attacked the boy when he opened the garage door. The dogs are now in the custody of Multnomah County Animal Services.

    The Portland Police Bureau Child Abuse Team and Homicide Unit are investigating the incident. It remains unclear if the dog owner will face criminal charges. This incident is one of several deadly dog attacks that have occurred in the U.S. this year.
