A string of cream cheese recalls has been initiated by Aldi and several other supermarkets due to a potential salmonella risk. The recall involves specific sell-by dates for Happy Farms Whipped Cream Cheese Spread, Chive & Onion Cream Cheese Spread, Cream Cheese Spread, and Strawberry Cream Cheese Spread sold in multiple states and Washington D.C.
The following products are affected by the recall:
Whipped Cream Cheese Spread: UPC Code: 4099100101881 sell-by dates: 08/30/2024, 08/31/2024, 09/01/2024, 09/3/2o24, and 9//4//2o24

Aldi did not report any illnesses related to the potential contamination as of recall notice. Schreiber Foods, the third-party supplier involved in the recall, was also implicated in a previous cream cheese recall this month affecting Hy-Vee, Hornbacher's, and Schnucks markets.
Consumers who may have purchased these recalled items are advised to return them for a full refund or throw them away. The FDA advises that symptoms of salmonella infection can begin as soon as six hours after ingesting the bacteria or up to six days later. Common symptoms include diarrhea, fever, and abdominal cramps, which typically last four to seven days.
The following supermarkets have issued recalls for cream cheese products supplied by Schreiber Foods:
Hy-Vee: Hy-Vee Cream Cheese Spread (8 oz.) with UPC code 40991 and sell-by dates of 12/5/2024, Lot Numbers 24073, 24101, and 24117. Hornbacher's: Essential Everyday Garden Vegetable Cream Cheese Spread (8 oz.) with a Best By Date of 9/o1/zoza.
Illness caused by salmonella infection can be severe in young children, the elderly, and immunocompromised individuals. Consumers are urged to contact their healthcare provider if they believe they may have symptoms of a salmonella infection.
