The Texas Rangers have clinched their first World Series victory in the franchise's 63-year history, sparking widespread celebrations across the state. The team's victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks was marked by a postgame party led by the Rangers' wives and significant others, including Madisyn Seager, wife of MVP shortstop Corey Seager. The celebration featured a toast from first baseman Nathaniel Lowe, dancing, and the enjoyment of Don Julio 1942 tequila.
In honor of the victory, a parade is set to take place, following a 1.9-mile route around Globe Life Field. The event, expected to last about an hour, will feature all Rangers players, Arlington Mayor Jim Ross, the City Council, representatives from Arlington public safety agencies, and local school marching bands. Parking will be provided free to the public, although certain lots will be closed before and during the event.
In addition to the parade, several North Texas school districts, including Arlington, Mansfield, Everman, Grand Prairie, Irving, Crowley, and Kennedale, have announced closures on Friday to allow everyone to celebrate. However, Dallas, Fort Worth, and Keller ISD have stated they will keep their schools open. The Arlington Independent School District (AISD) will be closed on Friday, with the district coordinating students from all six traditional high schools to form one combined band for the celebration.
The Rangers' victory was largely attributed to the performances of Corey Seager and Marcus Semien, who were signed as free agents for $500 million in December 2021. Seager became the first shortstop with three World Series homers, and he has four homers in his last five games dating to the AL Championship Series. Despite the team's success, the World Series has been experiencing dismal ratings, with Games 2 and 3 being the least-watched Fall Classic games on record, according to Nielsen.
