Three members of the renowned gospel music group, The Nelons, were among seven people killed in a tragic plane crash that occurred on July 27, 2024. The fatal accident took place in Campbell County, Wyoming, while the group was en route to join the Gaither Homecoming Cruise to Alaska.
The deceased members of The Nelons include Jason and Kelly Nelon Clark and their daughter Amber Nelon Kistler. Additionally, Nathan Kistler, husband of Amber, was also among those who lost their lives in the crash. Autumn Nelon Streetman, another member of the group who survived the accident, identified her mother-in-law Melodi Hodges as one of the victims.
Larry and Melissa Haynie were also killed in the crash. Larry Haynie was a prominent figure as chairman of the Georgia Board of Corrections.
The exact cause of the plane crash is currently under investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB). Preliminary reports suggest that an auto pilot issue during flight may have contributed to the accident.
