Travis Kelce, the star tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs, has agreed to a contract extension that will keep him with the team through the 2027 season. The deal makes Kelce the highest-paid tight end in the NFL, surpassing Darren Waller's contract with the New York Giants.
Kelce, who has been selected to nine consecutive Pro Bowls and is a four-time first-team All-Pro, has had an impressive career in the NFL. In his 11 seasons, he has amassed 907 receptions for 11,328 yards and 74 touchdowns. In the postseason, he holds an NFL record with 165 catches for a total of 1,903 yards and a record-setting 19 touchdowns.
Despite his age (he will be 38 by the end of his new contract), Kelce's consistency and productivity have earned him this lucrative extension. He has been an integral part of the Chiefs' success, particularly in their Super Bowl victories.
The news comes as a relief for fans and teammates alike, who were eager to see Kelce continue his tenure with the Chiefs. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes expressed his excitement on social media, writing “Back at it again, baby! Feels good to be in KC.”
Kelce's new deal also means that he will remain a top target for brands seeking endorsements. He has reportedly received offers from over 50 companies looking to partner with him.
The Chiefs have not disclosed the financial terms of Kelce's contract, but it is known that he will make $17 million fully guaranteed for this season and most of the rest to be guaranteed on the third day of the 2025 league year. The deal keeps Kelce in Kansas City through 2027.
