Two women have accused Washington Commanders kicker Brandon McManus of sexually assaulting them during a flight to London in September 2023, when he was a member of the Jacksonville Jaguars. The allegations include McManus trying to kiss one woman and grinding against both women while they were working as flight attendants.
McManus, who signed with the Commanders this offseason, denies the allegations through his attorney. However, the Commanders released him on June 3 without stating a reason.
The lawsuit filed in Florida's Duval County seeks damages exceeding $1 million from McManus and the Jaguars for negligence and gross negligence. The women claim that McManus recruited other flight attendants to join him in an impromptu party during the flight, which had other attendants drink and dance inappropriately.
One woman alleges that McManus tried to kiss her while she was strapped into the jump seat amid turbulence during the flight and grinded against her on two occasions while serving in-flight meals. The other woman claims that McManus acted similarly with her during the second in-flight service and grinded against her, preventing her from pushing him away.
The Jaguars organization has acknowledged the significance of the claims and is investigating. Atlas Air Worldwide Holdings, which operated the flight, also faces allegations of negligence for failing to maintain a safe environment for workers serving the team.
McManus played nine seasons for the Denver Broncos before his lone season in Jacksonville. The Commanders were made aware of the lawsuit on May 27 and were looking into the matter prior to his release.
