In the eastern part of Ukraine, intense fighting continues between Ukrainian and Russian forces. According to reports from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Russian forces have launched five unsuccessful attacks on Ukrainian positions near Krynky (Kherson Oblast) over the past 24 hours. Meanwhile, in other areas such as Sumy oblast, Chernihiv region, and Donetsk region, combat engagements have been reported. The Ukrainian forces have inflicted losses on Russian occupation forces throughout the entire war zone.
Ukrainian aircraft and Rocket Forces and Artillery units struck three Russian anti-aircraft missile systems, two artillery pieces, two radar stations, and nine clusters of military personnel in various locations over the past day. Unfortunately, civilian casualties have been reported as a result of these attacks on populated areas.
In addition to these reports from the General Staff of Ukraine's Armed Forces, other sources indicate that combat losses for Russia have increased by 1,260 over the past day. The hamlet near Kostiantynivka, home to Ukraine's air-defence battalion headquarters, is a hotspot for intense fighting.
Despite these ongoing conflicts and tensions, some sources suggest that Moscow may be attempting to capture Chasiv Yar by May 9 as a trophy for World War II Victory Day ceremonies. This strategic town in the Donbas region has seen bloody fighting between Ukrainian and Russian forces in the past.
