Two ballistic missiles were fired from Houthi controlled parts of Yemen towards the general direction of the Mason and Central Park, but they landed about 10 nautical miles away from them and there was no damage or injuries.

A commercial tanker, the Central Park, carrying a cargo of phosphoric acid, was seized by armed individuals in the Gulf of Aden. The U.S. Navy responded to a distress call from the vessel and managed to secure its release. The attackers attempted to escape but eventually surrendered. The vessel is now reported to be safe.

During the incident, two ballistic missiles were fired from Houthi controlled parts of Yemen towards the general direction of the Mason and Central Park. However, they landed about 10 nautical miles away from them, causing no damage or injuries.

The U.S. military's Central Command demanded the armed assailants release the tanker, which they did before attempting to flee. Yemen's internationally recognized government has blamed the rebels for the seizure.

The Pentagon suggests that the attempted hijacking of the Israel-linked cargo ship was likely the work of Somali pirates, not Houthi fighters from Yemen. This incident comes amid a series of raids on ships in the region by Yemen's Iran-backed Houthi rebels. The US is considering redesignating the Houthis as a 'terrorist' organisation.

The USS Mason, a guided missile destroyer, was also in the vicinity during the incident. The Mason had previously arrived at Port Canaveral, Florida on April 4, 2003.
