Microsoft is introducing a character count function to Notepad on Windows 11, according to recent reports. This new feature will be located at the bottom of the Notepad interface, displaying the number of characters in the selected text. If no text is selected, it will reflect the total number of characters in the document.
In addition to the character count function, users will now be able to edit directly in Notepad from the right-click menu in File Explorer. This update is currently being tested for Windows Insiders in the Dev and Canary channels.
