WNBA All-Star Weekend: Griner, Jones Compete in Skills Challenges; Gray Makes History

PHOENIX, AZ - The WNBA All-Star weekend kicked off on Friday with a series of skills competitions. Among the participants were some of the league's biggest names, including Brittney Griner and Jonquel Jones.

Griner competed in the Kia WNBA Skills Challenge against four guards, including her teammate Sophie Cunningham. Jones faced competition in the WNBA Starry 3-Point Contest from Stefanie Dolson and three guards, including Kayla McBride.

Despite some last-minute substitutions and declines from notable players like Caitlin Clark and Sabrina Ionescu, the competitions were filled with excitement. Allisha Gray made history by winning both the skills challenge and 3-point contest.

The USA women's 3x3 team also had a showcase against some of the best college players in the nation. Team USA won its first appearance of the year against the U23 national team with a score of 19-16 at AT&T WNBA All-Star.

ESPN broadcasted both competitions live, and fans could participate in the Kia WNBA Skills Challenge Activation located at WNBA Live presented by U.S. Bank to test their basketball skills.
