Free-agent wide receiver Zay Jones is generating interest from multiple NFL teams following his release by the Jacksonville Jaguars. According to various reports, Jones has visited or is scheduled to visit the Dallas Cowboys, Tennessee Titans, and Arizona Cardinals.
Jones' most recent stop was with the Cowboys on May 8. The Dallas native and former East Carolina University standout grew up in Texas and played high school football in Austin. This connection could make Jones an attractive option for the Cowboys as they look to bolster their receiving corps after releasing Michael Gallup due to salary-cap constraints.
In his breakout season with the Jaguars in 2022, Jones set career highs with 82 receptions for 823 yards and five touchdowns. His impressive performance caught the attention of Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott, who threw three touchdown passes to Jones during their Week 14 matchup.
The Cowboys' need for a reliable wide receiver is evident, as they currently have Jalen Tolbert, KaVontae Turpin, Jalen Brooks, and Ryan Flournoy on their depth chart. Jones' experience and production could provide an upgrade over the current options.
Jones visited the Titans earlier in the week but left without a contract. The Titans signed Tyler Boyd shortly after his departure, which may have taken them out of contention for Jones' services.
The Cardinals are another potential landing spot for Jones, as they also expressed interest in him before his visit to Dallas. Arizona has a need at the wide receiver position following the release of DeAndre Hopkins and the trade of Marquise Brown.
Jones' versatility and production make him an intriguing option for any team looking to improve their receiving corps. His ability to contribute in various roles, coupled with his familiarity with some of these organizations, could lead to a successful tenure wherever he lands.
