Vanessa Friedman is the fashion director and chief fashion critic of The New York Times. She has been with the publication since 2014, covering fashion as an expression of political, social, and cultural identity at a specific moment in time. Prior to joining The Times, she worked for the Financial Times and various magazines such as InStyle, The Economist, and The New Yorker. Vanessa graduated from Princeton University with a B.A. in history and lives in Brooklyn with her family.
