Veronica Haynes
Veronica Haynes is the WCVB Digital Editor/Producer. She joined the WCVB-TV digital team in 2003 and has covered all of the region's major events including the COVID-19 pandemic; Black Lives Matter demonstrations; Boston Marathon bombings; and championship runs of the Red Sox, Patriots, Bruins, and Celtics. Haynes' work at WCVB contributed to the website receiving prestigious Edward R. Murrow Awards for Best TV News Website in the New England region in various years from 2003 to 2012 by the Radio and Television News Directors Association (RTNDA). The digital team was recognized with national Headliner's Awards in 2011, 2012, 2014, 2015, and 2016 as well as the Associated Press award for best Website in New England for the years 2009 to 2012. Haynes has traveled to WCVB-TV's sister Hearst stations across the country to assist in their local digital teams with breaking news coverage, including WDSU-TV in New Orleans, WESH-TV in Orlando, WPBF in West Palm Beach, and WJCL-TV in Savannah for hurricane coverage and other events such as race riots in Baltimore; the declining health and death of former President George H.W. Bush; the murder of a deputy sheriff and the manhunt for his killer in Maine; and Orlando's Pulse nightclub shooting that left 49 innocent people dead. Before joining WCVB, Haynes worked at ABC News writing for ABCNews.com's health section, and researched and developed stories for ABC programs like Good Morning America, 20/20, and World News Tonight. She also worked with Philadelphia's WPVI-TV's medical unit writing and field producing segments for the station's broadcasts. Haynes is a native of Massachusetts and graduated summa cum laude from Westfield State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications with an emphasis on television production and broadcasting.
