The Daily's Verdict

This author has a mixed reputation for journalistic standards. It is advisable to fact-check, scrutinize for bias, and check for conflicts of interest before relying on the author's reporting.

Bias

96%

Examples:

  • A glorious paean to the lurid sensuality and gory excess of 1980s sexploitation and horror, MaXXXine completes Ti West's trilogy with a torrid love letter to '80s genre filmmaking.
  • Each of the three distinctive yet cohesive films doubles as a loving homage to the filmmaking aesthetics of a particular era.
  • Ultimately, this is the Mia Goth show and fans wouldn't have it any other way. She's a magnetic presence who fortifies her command as a new breed of scream queen, tough enough to dish out punishment as well as receive it.
  • West's feel for the time and place is impeccable, from the trashy-flashy sleaze of Hollywood Boulevard in that era, with its assortment of punks and freaks and celebrity impersonators, to the fire-and-brimstone 'Satanic Panic' of the demented climax.

Conflicts of Interest

  • Costner had a messy break from the hit show 'Yellowstone' due to the complicated production of 'Horizon'
  • Costner received a standing ovation from the crowd after the screening that lasted around ten minutes.
  • Horizon: An American Saga - Chapter 1 was initially planned as a mini-series but became four films instead
  • Kevin Costner premiered his western film 'Horizon: An American Saga - Chapter 1' at Cannes.
  • The budget for the film is over $90 million and it is planned as part one of a four-part saga.

Deceptions

60%

Examples:

  • Despite the harsh conditions and extreme danger involved in the expansion of the West, wagon trains of new settlers keep coming.
  • It plays like a limited series overhauled as a movie, but more like a hasty rough cut than a release ready for any format.
  • The article is straightforward and factual, with no apparent deception.
  • The sprawling new frontier tale, Horizon: An American Saga, is such a clumsy slog.
