Ryan O'Rourke

Ryan O'Neal is an American actor who rose to fame in the late 1960s and early 1970s with roles in television and film. Born on April 20, 1941, in Los Angeles, California, O'Neal trained as an amateur boxer before beginning a career in acting. He landed his first major role as Rodney Harrington on the ABC nighttime soap opera Peyton Place (1964), which was an instant hit and boosted his career. O'Neal later found success in films, most notably in the romantic drama Love Story (1970), for which he was nominated for an Academy Award and a Golden Globe Award. He also starred in Peter Bogdanovich's What's Up, Doc? (1972) and Paper Moon (1973). In 1989, he starred opposite Cybil Shepard and Robert Downey Jr. in Chances Are. From 2005 to 2017, he had a recurring role in the Fox television series Bones as Max, the father of the show's eponymous protagonist.
