Broke On: Thursday, 07 December 2023 First case of Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) reported in Kentucky. The disease was detected in a 2 ½-year-old male white-tailed deer in Ballard County. CWD spreads through contact with contaminated body fluids and tissue or through the environment. The disease does not naturally infect cattle or other domesticated animals. Kentucky Fish and Wildlife officials have implemented a CWD response plan in response to the detection.
