Sydney Welch is a dedicated meteorologist with a passion for forecasting and educating others about the power of weather. She joined NBC10 Boston and NECN's First Alert weather team in October 2023 after spending three years as the Good Morning Virginia meteorologist. During her time in Lynchburg, Virginia, Sydney earned a prestigious Certified Broadcast Meteorologist Seal of Approval and a master's degree in applied meteorology from Mississippi State University. Prior to that, she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Meteorology from Florida State University and began her career in Bristol, Virginia. Originating from Upstate New York, Sydney's interest in meteorology was sparked by frequent snow and ice storms she experienced growing up.
