Soumya Karlamangla

Soumya Karlamangla is a San Francisco-based reporter for The New York Times, focused on California news and culture. She writes a daily newsletter about the state called California Today. Her work involves reflecting the state's diverse perspectives and origins in her reporting, covering topics such as politics, health care, Covid-19 pandemic effects, and cultural events. Before joining The Times in 2021, she worked as a reporter at the Los Angeles Times for eight years.
