Grahame Lesh decided to enter his high school talent show in 2003 and asked his dad Grateful Dead bassist Phil Lesh if he could join him. When Grahame was just a child, he saw the Grateful Dead perform at Oakland Coliseum when Jerry Garcia died. He grew up around music and started playing guitar at age 13 with garage bands that learned metal riffs. In 2011, Phil Lesh's bar Terrapin Crossroads opened in San Rafael, California which became the home of Grahame's band Midnight North.
