Matt Flener is a news anchor and reporter for KMBC-TV/KCWE-TV in Kansas City. He has won acclaim from various organizations for his work, including the University of Southern California's Annenberg School of Communication and Journalism, Society of Professional Journalists, Radio Television Digital News Association, National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, Missouri Broadcasters Association. Prior to KMBC/KCWE he anchored and reported for KUSA in Denver Colorado where he was first on the scene at the Aurora Movie Theater Shooting. He also covered numerous wildfires including those during Hurricane Rita, Humberto, Ike and others. Matt began his career as a morning anchor and education reporter for KOMU in Columbia Missouri.
