Nikki McGee

Reporter Nikki McGee is excited to return to Nashville as a WKRN Alert Desk reporter. She joined News 2 after spending several years reporting in the Midwest at Newschannel 20/WICS in Springfield, Ill. and Fox Champaign. Nikki attended the University of Missouri’s School of Journalism, where she served as president of the school’s Society of Professional Journalists. She is also a proud alumnus of the Gamma Phi Beta sorority. Following Mizzou, Nikki received her Master’s Degree from Northwestern’s Medill School of Journalism. While at Medill, Nikki received her National Security Reporting certificate and specialized in homeland security reporting. She also underwent hostile environment training, as part of that certificate. Nikki was also a proud member of the Medill Justice Project, where she reported on a murder conviction, which was later overturned after Medill’s report. Nikki’s favorite semester was Medill on the Hill, where she got to report on the Nation’s Capital. Nikki has held internships at the Student Press Law Center in Washington, D.C., and at KMOV in St. Louis. Nikki is passionate about holding government accountable and viewer advocacy journalism.
