Layron Livingston,

It was 12 degrees -- and snowing -- when the moving truck pulled up to my Ohio door, and let's just say my blizzard-battered blood is still thinning out since I made the move from Ohio's Miami Valley to Miami, Florida.

A little bit about me: I am a passionate storyteller and I'm grateful for the opportunity to share people's stories.

Prior to joining the Local 10 News team in January 2016, I reported and anchored for WHIO-TV, Dayton's No.1 news station. While there, my work reporting the heroin and prescription drug epidemic in southwest Ohio earned me an Emmy nomination in 2014.

Before moving to Ohio, I anchored, reported, produced and photographed news for KLTV, the No.1 station in Tyler, Texas.

I grew up about 30 minutes east of Dallas (go Mavericks!), in Terrell, Texas (go Tigers!), and graduated with honors from the University of Texas at Austin (hook 'em Horns!) with a degree in journalism with a government concentration.

It was in Austin where I was really bitten by the television bug -- first on campus, where I reported for the student-led, student-run television station -- then as a production assistant at the local NBC affiliate in Austin. I later joined the WRC-TV consumer unit in Washington, D.C., as a writer and researcher.

I hit the ground running at Local 10 -- went live my first day, interviewed presidential candidates and helped Local 10 bring you team coverage of the tragic Pulse nightclub shooting in Orlando -- all during my first six months. The news is not always "good news", but I believe the impact can always be good when news is told in a compelling, demonstrative, informative, respectful and truthful way.

Don't be surprised if you see me (or hear me) singing at the top of my lungs in the grocery store, or while driving around town, or while trying on (notice I didn't say buying) a pair of shoes at the Aventura Mall. And these beaches are, like, right there! I mean, really, the ocean is right there! I can't get enough!!

You can normally catch my reports dark and early, starting at 4:30 a.m., at 9 a.m. and noon on Local 10's No.1 morning newscasts.

I look forward to continuing to tell South Florida's stories, so feel free to send me news tips and story ideas.
