Joe Ruch is a First Alert Meteorologist at CBS News Colorado. He developed a passion for meteorology at age 12 after experiencing a forecasting error during a snowstorm in Philadelphia. After obtaining his Bachelor of Science Degree in Meteorology and Atmospheric Science from Penn State University, Joe moved to Colorado Springs and began chasing various weather events. In 2024, he joined CBS News Colorado and has provided important updates on snowfall totals during significant storms. Aside from his work, Joe enjoys spending time outdoors exploring the high country, hiking, camping overnight, and trying new restaurants downtown. He is a Penn State alumnus and hails from Garnet Valley, Pennsylvania.
