Katie Pickens is the culinary director for Michael Symon and his restaurant group. She grew up in Cleveland with her mother and grandmother who both loved cooking. She started working in restaurants as a dishwasher at age 16 and worked her way up to become a prep cook, server, bartender, manager, chef de cuisine, sous-chef, and finally executive chef. She graduated from the culinary program at Cuyahoga Community College in Cleveland. She is also a video host for Eater's series How to Make It. She has appeared on Iron Chef America several times and competed against some of the best chefs in the world.
