Justyn Melrose is the Executive Producer of Digital Content at FOX8 WGHP, based in High Point, North Carolina. • • • Justyn Melrose is a native of both Florida and Massachusetts, but after more than a decade of Carolina barbecue, he considers himself a naturalized North Carolinian. He is a proud 2015 graduate of Guilford College where he first cut his teeth as a journalist with the college’s student newspaper, The Guilfordian. During that time, the North Carolina College Media Association awarded him an honorable mention for best feature writing in 2012. In 2015, under his leadership as editor-in-chief, the NCCMA awarded The Guilfordian the title of second-place best-in-show, alongside 10 other awards and recognitions. He signed on as a news reporter at the Rockingham County-based community newspaper RockinghamNow in September 2015, covering Reidsville, Eden and Madison. In 2018, the North Carolina Press Association awarded him second place for both best profile feature and best religion and faith reporting. He joined the FOX8 family as a digital news producer in July 2018, before taking on the mantle of executive digital producer in May 2021. In the years since, the Radio Television Digital News Association of the Carolinas awarded the FOX8 digital team second place for both best news website in 2021 and best use of social media in 2022. He has covered the dismissed false advertising lawsuit over the origin of Texas Pete hot sauce, multiple powerful storms including the deadly Hurricane Ian and countless other crime and financial news stories impacting North Carolina. When he’s not at the station, you can likely find him plotting out hooks for his next Dungeons & Dragons campaign or getting in line for the next big Marvel movie.
