Examples:

  • The author does not provide any balanced or objective information about the protests or the police response. She only presents one side of the story and implies that there is no justification for the police actions.
  • The author shows a clear bias in favor of the protesters and against the police. She uses phrases like 'protesters who said they were attempting an economic blockade' and 'law enforcement officers near Interstate 880 in Oakland' to portray the protesters as victims and the police as aggressors. Contradictions

75%

Examples:

  • The author also contradicts herself by claiming that 'Protesters demanded an end to US support of Israel and blocked bridges as part of a global economic blockade campaign.' This is a vague and unsubstantiated statement that does not explain why or how the protesters are blocking bridges or what their demands are.
  • The author contradicts herself by stating that seven people were arrested during the Oakland protest, but 26 people were taken into custody at the Golden Gate Bridge protest. This implies that there were more arrests at the bridge than on the highway.

Deceptions

40%

Examples:

  • The author also uses vague and misleading language to describe the protests, such as 'people need to stay informed of what’s going on' and 'protesters came face to face with law enforcement officers', which do not convey the severity or impact of the situation.
  • The author is deceptive by omitting important information that would provide context and clarity to the story. She does not mention the date or location of the protests, nor does she provide any background or motives for the protesters' actions.
