Henry Hill
Henry Hill was a mob informer whose story was told in the bestselling book Wiseguy (1986) and Martin Scorsese's film Goodfellas (1990). He survived being kicked out of witness protection, avoided a return to jail himself, and went on to thrive in the public eye by appearing on TV shows, lending himself to many documentaries, and even selling his own brand of spaghetti sauce. Hill was born in Brooklyn, New York, and began running errands for Paul Vario, a capo for the Luccheses – one of the New York mafia's five families. He was involved in several high-profile crimes and murders before becoming a government informant. His testimony led to long prison terms for Burke and Vario, and the conviction of over 50 mobsters. Despite being expelled from the witness protection programme due to his notoriety, Hill continued to appear in media related to crime and even tried his hand at cooking. He opened a restaurant named Wiseguys in West Haven, Connecticut but faced legal troubles. In recent years, he lived in Malibu and was inducted into both the Museum of the American Gangster in New York and the Mob Museum in Las Vegas.
