Minho Kim is a reporter based in Washington, D.C., covering breaking news and developments around the capital as well as climate stories. Prior to joining The New York Times in 2024, Kim worked for Politico's E&E News, where he covered climate change and federal efforts to cut carbon emissions and address global warming impacts. He also reported on the challenges faced by the Biden administration in reducing carbon emissions. Kim grew up in Seoul and studied economics and journalism at Northwestern University in Chicago. He served for nearly two years in South Korea's armed forces before moving to Chicago. As a Times reporter, Kim adheres to The Times' Ethical Journalism handbook standards, does not accept gifts, is not a member of a political party, and does not make political donations.
