David Hamilton, a celebrated photographer known for his provocative and sometimes controversial photographs of young women, had a multifaceted career in both the United Kingdom and France. Born in London in 1933, he was influenced by his time spent in the Dorset countryside during World War II. After working as an architect and graphic designer, Hamilton became the art director for Printemps, a large department store in Paris. His commercial photographs gained attention from various magazines like Réalités, Twen, and Photo. Throughout his life, Hamilton published numerous photography books, directed five feature films, and participated in magazine articles and art exhibitions. He was married twice and currently splits his time between St. Tropez and Paris. Hamilton's work has experienced a renewed public interest recently. Hamilton's career is marked by several exhibitions, including those at Schwabengarage Stuttgart, Vecchiato Contemporary Photos in Padova, and the Kamera- und Fotomuseum Leipzig.
