Chris Martinez

Chris Martinez is a news reporter currently working with WFLA in Tampa Bay. He joined the team in June 2021 after spending six years as a CBS News Correspondent based in the network's Los Angeles bureau. During his time at CBS, Chris covered major stories for local stations and national broadcasts, including trips to Cuba for historic visits from Pope Francis and former President Barack Obama, as well as the 2017 earthquake in Mexico City. Prior to his time with CBS, Chris spent three years as a reporter and fill-in anchor at WBBM-TV in Chicago. He also worked for more than nine years in Tampa as a reporter and anchor at WFTS-TV. Chris has experience reporting in Central Florida, Tallahassee, and Orlando. Born in Miami to a Cuban-born father and American-born mother, Chris grew up in Orlando but has considered Tampa home for over 25 years. He graduated from The Florida State University with a bachelor's degree in political science and communications.
