RFE/RL is a private, nonprofit corporation broadcasting and webcasting in 26 languages to countries in Eurasia, including Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Ukraine and Russia. It is funded by the U.S. Congress through the Broadcasting Board of Governors (BBG), an independent federal agency supervising U.S. government-funded civilian international broadcasting to promote democracy and freedom of expression. RFE/RL's mission is to provide uncensored news, responsible discussion, and open debate to audiences who lack such information from their governments or local media.
