Meaghan Thomas,

Meteorologist Meaghan Thomas joined News 2 in July 2020. Her forecasts can be seen every morning from 4:30 to 7 a.m., 11 a.m., and whenever severe weather breaks. Originally from Johns Creek, Georgia, she is familiar with Tennessee's weather patterns due to family connections in the state. Meaghan earned her bachelor's degree in Broadcast News and Geography from the University of Alabama in 2012. She is a member of the American Meteorological Society and the National Weather Association, and is also a certified storm spotter and storm chaser. Her experience with severe weather dates back to her time as an undergraduate, when she witnessed the devastating tornado outbreak on April 27, 2011. In 2014, Meaghan completed her master's degree in Broadcast Meteorology from Mississippi State University. While attending MSU, she worked as a meteorologist at WCBI, the CBS affiliate in Columbus, MS. She helped cover the April 28, 2014 tornado outbreak across Mississippi. After leaving Mississippi, Meaghan joined the ABC affiliate in Birmingham in 2014. She served as the weekend and morning meteorologist at ABC 33/40 for six years, covering various weather events. In addition to her work as a meteorologist, Meaghan has also earned the Certified Broadcast Meteorologist Seal of Approval. Meaghan is passionate about bringing awareness to the hard of hearing, deaf, and deaf communities. She proudly wears bi-lateral hearing aids and has written a children's book and founded a non-profit organization called The Heart of Hearing. She also enjoys working out, spending time with her Pomeranian, Daisy Diana, and cheering for the University of Alabama Crimson Tide. Meaghan is excited to return to her roots and now serves as a meteorologist for WKRN in Tennessee.
