Sabrina Tavernise,

Sabrina Tavernise is a journalist who co-hosts “The Daily” podcast for The New York Times. She began her career with the Times in Moscow in 2000 and spent the first ten years of her career as a foreign correspondent, based in Russia, Iraq and Pakistan. During her time in Iraq from 2003 to 2007, she documented civilian casualties and covered the lives of ordinary Iraqis. She has also covered demographics for The Times on the Census and has experience in national reporting. Prior to joining The Times, Tavernise was a freelance writer in Russia for various publications including BusinessWeek. She holds a Bachelor's degree from Barnard College and spent time working in Magadan, Russia at a United States Agency for International Development-funded business training center. Currently based in Washington, she continues to report on various topics including politics, demographics and international affairs.
