Luke Laster is a journalist who joined CBS News Detroit in August 2022. He is a native of Marine City and has previous experience working as a digital anchor at WOOD TV8 in Grand Rapids and as an anchor/reporter at KULR-8 News in Billings, Montana. Luke graduated from Central Michigan University and has also worked with the Grand Rapids Drive. In his free time, he enjoys being on Lake St. Clair, staying active, and following basketball. His work primarily focuses on local news and community events.

Broke On: Saturday, 15 June 2024 At least nine people, including Micayla and Eric Coughlin who shielded their young children, were wounded in a shooting at the Brooklands Plaza Splash Pad in Rochester Hills, Michigan. The gunman, identified as Michael William Nash of Shelby Township, fled the scene and later died by suicide during a police standoff. Nash reportedly lived alone and kept to himself before committing the senseless act that left investigators searching for a motive.
