Melissa Brunner

Melissa Brunner is the News Director at WIBW-TV in Topeka, Kansas. She anchors the Live at 5 newscast and joins Ralph Hipp for 13 News at 6 and 10 p.m. Melissa grew up in Manitowoc, Wisconsin, and is a Green Bay Packers fan by birth. She earned a degree in broadcast communication from Marquette University in Milwaukee before starting her career as a reporter at WFRV-TV in Green Bay. In 1996, she joined WIBW-TV in Topeka where she has covered crime, the legislature, and various other topics. Melissa is responsible for the weekly To Your Health feature and has earned numerous awards from the Kansas Association of Broadcasters, Kansas Associated Press, American Cancer Society, and RTNDA. She actively participates in several area organizations and events including the Children's Tumor Foundation, American Cancer Society, Easter Seals Capper Foundation, American Heart Association, and the Race Against Breast Cancer. Melissa married WIBW-TV Chief Photographer Doug Brown in June 2000 and lives in Topeka with their many dogs and cats. In her spare time, she enjoys working outdoors, scrapbooking, running, and searching for great antiques.
