Linda Qiu
Linda Qiu is a New York Times reporter who focuses on fact-checking statements made by politicians and public figures. She has been a fact checker for nearly a decade, covering multiple presidential races, congressional debates, and viral misinformation. Prior to joining The Times in 2017, she worked at PolitiFact. In addition to her fact-checking work, Linda writes about food policy and the Agriculture Department, drawing on her bachelor's degree in environmental studies from the University of Chicago. She grew up in China, Oklahoma, and California and currently resides in Washington. As a Times journalist, Linda adheres to the standards of integrity outlined in The Times' Ethical Journalism handbook and believes that fact checks should be transparent so readers can understand how and why a statement is false or misleading. She makes it a priority to include links to supporting evidence, avoids anonymous sources, and does not participate in political campaigns.
