Sara McCoy
Sara McCoy is a multimedia journalist and weekend meteorologist who joined the Northstate News team from Colorado. She holds a degree in Journalism and Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences from the University of Colorado Boulder. Her work focused on environmental changes related to fly fishing. After graduating, she conducted independent research at the National Weather Aviation Center in Longmont, Colorado, where she studied mesoscale convective systems to improve airplane landings in challenging mountain regions. In 2022, McCoy worked as a reporter for News Channel Nebraska, covering northern Colorado, the Nebraskan Panhandle, and eastern Wyoming. She then returned to Denver to work as a NASM-certified personal trainer and a substitute teacher. Originally from Minnesota, McCoy is now excited to bring her expertise in meteorology to Redding, California.
