Caren Lissner

Caren Lissner is a lifelong New Jersey resident who grew up in Matawan/Aberdeen, Freehold, and Old Bridge. She graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in the 1990s. After college, she spent 20 years as a beat reporter and editor at a newspaper chain in Hudson County, and has written for the Washington Post and Atlantic.com. She has also published two novels, one of which was adapted into a nerdy romantic comedy that's currently streaming on Netflix (called Carrie Pilby). Broke On: Tuesday, 16 July 2024 On July 16, 2024, New Jersey residents and others along the East Coast felt shaking or heard an explosion-like sound around 11 a.m. NASA later identified this as a meteor disintegrating 29 miles above midtown Manhattan at an altitude of 49 miles. The space agency estimated it passed over the Statue of Liberty and caused no damage or injuries.
