Ministry of

Nusrat Ghani served in multiple ministerial roles including Minister of State for Europe at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office. She was previously a Minister of State at the Department for Business and Trade as well as Minister of State responsible for the Investment Security Unit at the Cabinet Office. Nusrat also held positions in various select committees during her time in Parliament, including those related to business, energy, industrial strategy, foreign affairs, armed forces bills and home affairs. She was part of the UK delegation to NATO Parliamentary Assembly and served as Rapporteur of the Science and Technology Committee. Nusrat's work focused on raising awareness of human rights abuses particularly concerning Uyghurs in Xinjiang, for which she was nominated for the NATO Women of Peace and Security Prize. Prior to her political career, Nusrat worked for charities Age UK and Breakthrough Breast Cancer before joining the BBC World Service.
