2025 Ram 1500 Ramcharger: Hybrid Truck Combines Electric and Gas Power

Stellantis plans to use the same power system in the Jeep Wrangler in 2028, and the Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer in 2025.
The 2025 Ram 1500 Ramcharger is a plug-in series-hybrid truck with a 92-kWh battery pack and a 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 engine.
The Ramcharger supports DC fast charging and Level 2 home charging, and offers bidirectional power.
The truck provides 145 miles of electric-only power and an additional 545 miles with the gasoline engine running a generator as a range-extender.

Stellantis' Ram brand has announced the development of the 2025 Ram 1500 Ramcharger, a plug-in series-hybrid truck. The Ramcharger is designed to address the range anxiety often associated with electric vehicles, offering a unique combination of electric and gas power. The truck features a 92-kWh battery pack that provides 145 miles of electric-only power. Additionally, it has a 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 engine that acts as a mobile generator, recharging the battery on the move and extending the total range to an estimated 690 miles.

The Ramcharger's powertrain is capable of 663 horsepower and more than 615 lb-ft of torque, allowing it to go from zero to 60 miles per hour in 4.4 seconds. It also has the capacity to tow a trailer weighing up to 14,000 pounds. The truck supports DC fast charging and Level 2 home charging, and offers bidirectional power, potentially keeping a house running during an outage or recharging another EV with a low battery.

The Ramcharger and the fully electric Ram 1500 REV share the same STLA Frame platform, with the battery and fuel tank encapsulated within the fuel rails. The design of the Ramcharger is a blend between the regular, gas-powered Ram, and the Ram 1500 REV. Stellantis plans to use the same power system in the Jeep Wrangler in 2028, and the Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer in 2025.

In addition to the hybrid model, Stellantis is introducing new trims for its 2025 Ram model, including internal combustion engine (ICE) and electric vehicle (EV) versions. The company is discontinuing the V-8 engine option for the Ram and introducing new engines, including the 3.0L Hurricane and 3.0L Hurricane High Output Straight-Six Turbo ICEs, as well as the 3.6L Pentastar V-6 eTorque.
