In a series of unfortunate events, a three-week-old infant named Baki Dewees has gone missing and is now the subject of a death investigation. The last known sighting of the baby was with his father, Yusuf Dewees, who is currently in custody in Utah for unrelated charges. The mother, Roselani Gaoa, was also arrested on child abuse charges but these are not related to Baki's disappearance.
The search for Baki's remains has led investigators to the Antelope Valley Landfill in Palmdale, California. According to reports from various sources, including the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department and local news outlets, detectives have been combing through waste at the site since Tuesday in hopes of finding any clues that could lead them to Baki.
Baki was last seen with his father on May 3. The family had recently moved from Ohio to California but things did not work out and Yusuf wanted to go his own way, leaving the infant behind. When Brad Parke, Baki's grandfather, called the shelter where Roselani was staying to check on him, he was informed that Baki was no longer there.
The circumstances surrounding Baki's disappearance are suspicious and authorities are treating it as a death investigation. However, they have not disclosed what led them to believe that the child's body might have been dumped at the AV landfill.
Baki's family is working with the county Department of Children and Family Services while detectives continue their search for his remains. Anyone with information about this case is urged to contact homicide detectives at 323-890-5500.
