In recent developments, Qualcomm has launched its new Snapdragon X CPUs, marking the beginning of the Microsoft Copilot AI PC era. The first fully Microsoft Copilot compliant platform offers out-of-the-box support for AI features such as Microsoft's Auto SR technology (Brett Ostrum, Anshel Sag, Forbes).
Qualcomm's Snapdragon X platform is not only leading in terms of AI performance but also the first to be fully compliant with Microsoft Copilot. This collaboration between Qualcomm and Microsoft aims to provide users with the latest AI features that competitors will only incorporate in later updates (Digitimes).
Some of these features include Microsoft's Auto SR technology, an automatic super-resolution technology that can improve performance for gamers. The chips feature up to 12 cores, 42 MB of cache, up to 4.2 GHz clock speeds, up to 45 AI TOPS (Windows Central), and support for LPDDR5x-8448 memory.
The first Copilot PCs will be available from OEM partners such as Acer, Asus, Dell, HP, Lenovo, Samsung and Microsoft itself. The prices for these high-performance devices start at $999 US (Wccftech).
Microsoft's decision to exclusively use Qualcomm's Snapdragon X series platform for the Copilot PC was initially met with skepticism due to the market's long-standing trust in x86 architecture for Windows PCs. However, Microsoft and Qualcomm's aggressive push and exclusive partnership have alleviated initial concerns (Digitimes).
The rapid development of AI application algorithms and related functions will continue to improve Copilot PC performance, allowing users to experience enhancements in real time (Digitimes).
