Suri Cruise, the 18-year-old daughter of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, has revealed her plans to attend Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh this fall. The news was shared in a TikTok video posted by a fellow student during LaGuardia High School's commitment day celebration.
Carnegie Mellon University is known for its prestigious School of Design, which may be where Suri intends to study fashion. Her interest in the arts is evident from her participation in numerous high school plays and her role in her school production of Head Over Heels.
Tom Cruise was spotted at Soergel Orchards in Pittsburgh with his family while filming Jack Reacher in 2011, indicating a possible connection to the city. Katie Holmes also dedicated the end credits of her film Rare Objects to Suri and included her in its production.
Suri's decision to attend Carnegie Mellon University comes after she graduated from LaGuardia High School in New York City, where she had a keen interest in the arts. Her mother, Katie Holmes, raised her following their divorce in 2012 and has been protective of her privacy.
Carnegie Mellon University is located in Pittsburgh and has a long list of distinguished alumni including six who were nominated for Tony Awards. Famous alumni include Leslie Odom Jr., Patrick Wilson, Renee Elise Goldsberry, Ted Danson, Judith Light, Holly Hunter, Pittsburgh's own Joe Manganiello, Zachary Quinto and Billy Porter.
Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes welcomed Suri in April 2006. The couple divorced in 2012 after five years of marriage.
