Francis Scott Key was an American lawyer and amateur poet who is best known for writing 'The Star-Spangled Banner', the national anthem of the United States. He was born into a wealthy family in Carroll County, Maryland and received his education at Princeton University before becoming a lawyer. Throughout his career, he served as President Andrew Jackson's attorney general and played a key role in shaping American legal history.
