KTUL News

KTUL is a news station based in Tulsa, Oklahoma. It was founded in Muskogee in 1954 as KTVX and later moved to Tulsa and changed its call letters to KTUL. The station has a rich history, starting with the first broadcast of an OU football game and the addition of newscaster Jack Morris, weather reporter Don Woods, and sportscaster Hal O'Haloran. In 1957, KTUL moved to Lookout Mountain in Tulsa and reached over half a million viewers with the construction of a 1900 foot tower in Coweta. Betty Boyd joined the team in 1965, bringing a new audience to local television. Popular shows like Mr. Zing & Tuffy were introduced in the 70s, making Channel 8 the most watched station during that era.
